We have again alot to talk about in this second part with Elvis. The spanish league, games against Sabadell or the inclusion of young players into the team like Barceloneta. The Champions League is also a very important competition we have to talk about. What will be the impact on the champions league with the local leagues in each country when they go into the final phase together with the Final 8 middle of the year. Also the german club Spandau und Waspo are part of our discussion aboiut their progress ofter the last couple of years.

Today we have a good old friend from Spain as a guest on the podcast. Elvis Fatovic is leading the table in the Champions League with his club CNAB Barceloneta and was a guest on the podcast for the first time as Australia coach. How does he assess the current form of his team and what were the biggest challenges for him personally when he decided to work for such a traditional spanish club like Barceloneta. You will soon find out.

Japan has disadvantages to score against European teams in normal play based on the players, but has other advantages which must be used optimally. Speed, manoeuvrability and agility are top priorities here. But Yoshinori was also in the USA for a while and got important insights into the training work of successful coaches from which he still benefits today. In the latest podcast episode he tells us which trainers these were and what things he still practices today.

Japan is one of the nations that has seen clear development in the water polo community over the last few years. But what are the reasons for that and what has be done for that?

Headcoach and former national player Yoshinori Shiota give us some more insights about the league in Japan and what role the school system plays in this context.

In addition to the spanish national team, Eduardo also plays in the Champions League with his club Sabadell. The young team is here primarily to learn, but this season you can already see the first successes against more experienced teams. How does Eduardo see the further development of his team and what might be missing to be able to beat a big team. He reveals that to us today in the second part of the interview.

"You have to have a feeling for it in the penalty shoot-out" and that has led to one of the greatest successes in recent history. To the world championship title in 2022. The coach trusted him at that special moment and he seized this opportunity. We will also go into why winning the silver medal was so important after the fourth place at the Olympics in Tokyo.

I am proud and grateful to be able to welcome Eduardo, a reigning world champion, to the podcast again. And not just any, because with his devalued 5 meter penalty Eduardo made Spain world champion.

Among other things, we are investigating how the Spanish league is doing and what central role Barcelona is playing in this. What is the most important thing in childhood when you start playing water polo and why every player should have tested all positions at the beginning.

Im letzten Teil meines Gesprächs mit Julian geht es, wie man sich unschwer denken kann, um mögliche Lösungsansätze um international wieder an die Weltspitze anknüpfen zu können. Es muss dem Nachwuchs, egal welchen Alters klar sein wofür sie den Aufwand betreiben. Was sind die Ziele des Verbands, des Vereins und wie kann der Einzelne dazu betragen? Es wird viel gedacht, aber oft nicht bis zum Ende, und bei der tatsächlichen Umsetzung scheitert es noch zu oft. Was ist das holländische Modell und macht es vielleicht auch in Deutschland Sinn? Deutsche Spieler müssen, vor allem in den Vereinen, mehr Spielpraxis bekommen und dabei würde auch eine Beschränkung oder Modernisierung der Regelung über den Einsatz von ausländischen Spielern helfen. Aber all das muss aus „einem Guss“ kommen und Teil eines ganzheitlichen Konzeptes sein. Die Bundesstützpunkte sollen dabei eine wichtige Rolle spielen, werden aber durch die ansässigen Vereine oftmals „zweckentfremdet“. Hat Waspo oder Spandau aktuell das bessere Konzept?
