00:00:04:

00:00:35: If you see something for the first time and it's good, then you have a good impression of this.

00:00:41: But if your first time was not good than its always different.

00:00:46: Yeah, yeah so then it's good for you.

00:00:47: So that the first impression and the first move was good.

00:00:52: The Impression in the feeling maybe than for the next move is also a little bit better.

00:01:03: So all these club stations, so this brings you also not at the end only to the senior Greece national team but for the junior team.

00:01:17: When you come first to the national team from the club what was it feeling or a thing called okay?

00:01:28: You are named and nominated Junior team or yeah, junior team use-team for the first time and then also for the senior team after that.

00:01:42: Yeah I think every player to have a place in the national team is the biggest honor we can get!

00:01:52: Every kid is dreaming of joining the National Team okay... For sure playing on on a great team or good club is really important.

00:02:04: But I think every player is dreaming of the national team, this is their highest goal and the highest honor also for the players.

00:02:13: So you know it's something very big to be part of the National Team

00:02:22: And not only use-team but under twenty teams.

00:02:27: It was first step.

00:02:31: Yeah, so now you have really the next station which is then the senior team where over the last couple of years maybe also... Yeah, so the road or enhancement on game and the whole team gets better.

00:02:56: So there was also Olympic Games where we agreed that you were with national teams are really let's say close.

00:03:05: And now you won World Cup for first time against Hungary.

00:03:12: Do you still realise what was happening over the last couple of weeks?

00:03:22: For us, it's really something big because we were the first gold medal for the senior Greek national team.

00:03:31: It is very special!

00:03:35: A lot of times when we were in the finals and lost... You know, the feeling is really bad.

00:03:45: I

00:03:46: could only imagine that!

00:03:48: So it was something very big for us and we managed to win the gold.

00:03:55: But when you mentioned that last result in the big tournament wasn't so good... Are there regardless of results also points where can say this helps us to win?

00:04:11: This will come this time because we are knowing what comes.

00:04:15: maybe after that or We know How to deal with these kind of situation during a final or the gold medal match based on I don't know Paris, London or whatever.

00:04:27: Are there any things you can say?

00:04:30: Okay.

00:04:30: This brings us forward?

00:04:32: Yes Of course but winning is really nice and very happy afterwards.

00:04:39: To be honest, when you win that is... You say okay I'm good.I am very well and the best.

00:04:45: so i don't know what to do.

00:04:46: So..you need not change anything but if you lose this is where your gain a lot of experience And you gain more when you loose than when you won because it means that you didn´t do something good.

00:05:03: This is how you become better.

00:05:05: And you know after some finals that we lost or some semi-finals, but... We lost and said guys didn't do this and these in that.

00:05:15: Then the next game is better.

00:05:19: So I think from every loss You gain many things.

00:05:25: It's really tough to accept it To move forward But its important to learn something from every loss.

00:05:38: Yeah, and as you said maybe then the loss of a game or tournament.

00:05:45: so it feels not good yeah?

00:05:47: So we mentioned that already but winning feels much more better.

00:05:53: But yeah, so I can totally understand your point that when you win everything is fine.

00:06:00: There's no need to change anything and then you have to rethink.

00:06:09: This one needs to be a little bit different.

00:06:14: We need some more players, different players... I don't know!

00:06:20: And this is then the moment which brings you forward as we said.

00:06:28: When you go into these kind of gold medal matches also for the World Cup with these experiences in your mind, that there are also other options as to win the game.

00:06:45: How is it mentally or from a mental point of view going into this kind of gold medal matches and for example at the World Cup final against Hungary?

00:06:56: Are there any things coming through our minds saying okay we know How is

00:07:05: it?

00:07:05: Yeah, I think that of course you say we are here.

00:07:09: We're also before some years at the same point on the final with Hungary... We know how to lose so no one wants us to fill this again.

00:07:25: and what do we need to do in order for us to win?

00:07:29: So let's follow our plan!

00:07:31: And then everything will be good, but you know how is the feeling of a loss.

00:07:37: I think that... The fact that we don't want to feel this again.

00:07:43: it's big motivation!

00:07:45: Yeah so its an extra portion of motivation than yes?

00:07:48: So i dont'want to feel like one or two years ago.

00:07:53: Yes exactly It really big motivation.

00:07:59: You are also more Not relaxed, but in a way that You know.

00:08:06: you know what the feeling of the loss.

00:08:07: We know how it was.

00:08:09: It's not something new.

00:08:10: so Now you just move forward and now you can deal with this And I think it's like we are a bit more.

00:08:20: How can explain?

00:08:21: Not really used to but on away.

00:08:23: that is not something.

00:08:25: knew

00:08:26: No.

00:08:27: Yeah, so it's not a new situation.

00:08:31: but you're really comfortable with yourself saying okay as you said You have a plan A match plan.

00:08:38: Let us follow the plan and we are really good prepared.

00:08:43: let see what comes then at end.

00:08:50: So I'm really Couldn't you imagine about the pressure before this kind of games?

00:08:59: It must be unbelievable, let's say that way.

00:09:05: Or is it not so high?

00:09:10: I think for all of us there isn't a pressure but we have bigger expectations and goals.

00:09:21: We want to win, let's say the gold medal or whatever is a tournament.

00:09:26: So I don't think anyone can put bigger pressure than us on ourselves.

00:09:34: Yeah yeah so it's not really... So i had also these kind of talks or discussion with previous podcast guests and there was at the end It comes out that a pressure, it's the privilege to be in this kind of situations or games for your country and club.

00:09:59: It is not really a pleasure but it's a privilege because you have right there!

00:10:08: Of

00:10:08: course... I agree with that.

00:10:12: You are playing for the UNASHA team which has the chance.

00:10:18: What would be the moment?

00:10:20: And it's really a privilege.

00:10:23: Do you have specific memories during last couple of minutes against Hungary, because then you lead to three or four goals and then Hungary comes back... It was really maybe not part of the game plan that they are coming back.

00:10:46: Do you have any special memories during the last, I don't know one or two minutes?

00:10:55: No to be honest...I was very confident we can win a game but it's normal.

00:11:04: Kanger is a little good team.

00:11:07: They will have their counter-attack back.

00:11:09: It's not that they'll stop playing because you are winning three or four goals, so I think we were expecting them to fight it back.

00:11:20: Okay at the end was really close But also me and as i saw in my teammates We're really confident.

00:11:32: That is a good way for

00:11:35: us.

00:11:36: How was it?

00:11:37: Maybe you can remember your feelings or thoughts when your teammates scored the last goal.

00:11:46: I don't know how many seconds before the end, but not so much time left on the clock.

00:11:53: No!

00:11:53: It would have been twelve seconds if i remembered correctly.

00:11:58: So there could be some action in Water Polo again from Hungary?

00:12:04: Yes, of course.

00:12:06: Do you remember the moment he scored a goal?

00:12:11: We had some very bad moments in the past with let's say the game against Spain and Singapore that we scored.

00:12:20: then we received a goal on Lillian last second also at the Olympic Games in Paris where we received goals from Serbia for the last second.

00:12:29: so...we have some bad memories about this But I think everyone was really focused on the point and we knew what to do so that we don't receive a goal again.

00:12:41: Because as i said before, this happened with us!

00:12:45: We know how much it hurts... So

00:12:50: now you already mentioned at very beginning.. Right Now its vacation time.

00:12:56: And then move to Hungary.

00:13:00: What are next?

00:13:01: plans then for you.

00:13:03: So what are your expectations, to go to Ferenc Varosch?

00:13:10: I could also only imagine that going to Hungary or Budapest is one of the water polo cities himself so it's another out-of-the-confort zone moment maybe!

00:13:27: Yeah

00:13:28: i'm really excited and You know, I go there.I want to improve more and you know i think that Every country has a different Mindset in the different style And different approach.

00:13:45: on the water polo.

00:13:47: You know Greece is a bit different in Croatia It's different in Hungary it's different In Italy its different.

00:13:53: So...i think Its really beautiful thing and great thing To collect lot of experiences from all these countries that they have a great tradition on the water polo.

00:14:07: So, you know I'm really excited to see another approach in sports.

00:14:10: it's different... No as i said its different from Greek style of water polos.

00:14:18: It is different than what we saw before but..I am really looking forward to seeing this.

00:14:26: So which is then at the end?

00:14:27: to stop forward for you personally?

00:14:29: Yeah, so when we say it's new.

00:14:31: It could only be a step further

00:14:35: Yes, exactly

00:14:39: With the Greece national team.

00:14:41: are there any tournaments coming up in next couple of months?

00:14:46: or really than focus on the club team?

00:14:51: I think until January February The next World Cup, I don't think there is something new from the national

00:15:02: team.

00:15:02: Then you have really a chance to focus yourself on the move to Ferenc Varoche?

00:15:08: Yes!

00:15:10: New

00:15:10: impressions... different story and city.

00:15:17: I wish you all the best then for this move.

00:15:19: Thank You very much!

00:15:22: At the end, i have five questions for you so maybe we can play a little bit of quick fire question here.

00:15:32: So first one is One word for the center forward position

00:15:38: Fight

00:15:40: Fight?

00:15:40: Okay, yeah.

00:15:41: So based on your explanations at the beginning... Yeah so I could imagine this a little bit fight The toughest defender you have ever faced so far?

00:15:53: Uh..I can say two It's Evovic and Skubakis

00:16:00: Mm-hmm okay!

00:16:01: So it is also then somebody from Greece.

00:16:05: maybe he knows You are a little better than other one.

00:16:08: Yeah, definitely.

00:16:11: So what matters most for the center forward?

00:16:13: The pass, timing or the referee line?

00:16:20: The timing I

00:16:22: think.

00:16:23: Because then

00:16:29: you have only a few seconds to make your move.

00:16:33: so... You know, maybe you make the right move but on the wrong timing.

00:16:43: So still it's not good.

00:16:45: so I mean is really important.

00:16:48: Okay Good Um...so one thing every young sender forward player should learn at very beginning Fight

00:17:01: okay?

00:17:01: No no fight.

00:17:03: i would say tolerance to the fighting Not too..you know because It's really important, because as I said you are in constant contact.

00:17:19: It is very important to keep calm and not get angry.

00:17:29: Not overreact.

00:17:30: maybe at some

00:17:32: situations?

00:17:33: Maybe someone is on you or hit me but... It's really important to have tolerance on this and not lose your mind.

00:17:41: Okay, maybe also not your focus then during the game?

00:17:44: Because I had a question from a kid here in Greece And he asked me like How do you do it if someone is on you or hit you Or something.

00:17:54: how don't get ugly and fight back.

00:17:59: So what was his answer?

00:18:00: Yeah If someone hits you, I will punch your back.

00:18:09: You need to have tolerance on this and the

00:18:14: game is over then!

00:18:17: Yes exactly because they want you lose your mind.

00:18:20: if he loses his mind He wins.

00:18:32: This is, I think very important.

00:18:35: Okay good so last question So when there would be a headline for the next victory of the Greek national team what should it called?

00:18:47: So headline in internet newspaper or whatever about the next step on the national team.

00:18:54: You know, I said that it's really important for us to be on this gold medal but actually now its over.

00:19:05: Okay we had fun and celebrated But we cannot continue discussing these forever because It is finished.

00:19:13: Now We need focussing the next challenge or step Because you can not say in this

00:19:22: So The Next headline could they did again?

00:19:26: something like that, maybe.

00:19:29: Just to be a little bit provocant here!

00:19:33: Good so then thanks for your answers to the quick fire and as mentioned already thank you for taking us in your mind of our center forward position player.

00:19:49: it was very interesting Yeah, so I hope we really bring some new ideas to young athletes.

00:20:00: So it's based on the feedback of the audience... ...so when you get a request for the next recording maybe then record part two?

00:20:22: Okay,

00:20:22: I don't know.

00:20:23: so then it's up.

00:20:25: It's up to the audience to say okay We need a little bit more information about that Of

00:20:29: course of course we can do it again if someone asked for this.

00:20:34: But uh...it was really a pleasure from me To join you.

00:20:39: Thank-you very much For the invitation.

00:20:41: You're more than welcome And also my pleasure too.

00:20:46: Have your here and yeah have nice evening Last days of vacation, all the best then for Hungary.

00:20:56: Thank you very much!

00:20:57: For your next step and talk to us soon.

00:20:59: so maybe we see each other somewhere around the world.

00:21:02: Maybe Europe is not that big.

00:21:07: So when you play with Ferdin's Városh in Hannover We have at least a chance to meet eachother.

00:21:14: Yeah it would be nice

00:21:17: Perfect.

00:21:17: thanks again for your time.

00:21:19: Have a nice evening.

00:21:21: Talk to you soon.

00:21:22: Thank You.

00:21:23: Bye.
